Obituary for William "Bill" Conway

William "Bill" Conway
William Anthony “Bill” Conway, 79, of McGehee, AR died Thursday February 14, 2013 at home. He was born on July 30, 1933 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, a son of the late Harold Thomas and Mary Frances Murphy Conway.
Bill was a retired hospital administrator and a graduate from Fordham University and UALR. He was very active in community service. Bill was a cradle catholic serving God and St. Mary’s Catholic Church of McGehee, AR as organist, member of the Knights of Columbus and parish finance council. Because St. Mary’s was his heart he served God in the larger community and the poor through Southeast Arkansas Home Rehabilitators, a mission of St. Mary’s which was launched in 1996.
He embraced ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) as a gift from God through which he could continue to bring new life to his church, his community and his country. He was a living example of what a single heart ignited by faith could accomplish.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 15 years Talmadge Conway and his brother Thomas F. Conway, and step-daughter Lori Linn.
Survivors include his wife Helen Conway; nephew, Kevin Conway; niece, Kathleen Baber; grand-nephew, Thomas James Baber; granddaughter, Jodie Trucks; great-granddaughter, Morgan Warren; great-grandson, Beau Warren; step-son and his wife John and Lori Ann Linn.
Visitation will be 4-6pm Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. A Rosary will follow at 6pm. Funeral services will be at 10am Monday, February 18, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGehee, AR. Burial will be at Dark Corner Cemetery near Dumas, AR.
Memorials may be made to Southeast Arkansas Home Rehabilitators, C/O St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 401 North 3rd. Street, McGehee, AR 71654.
