Mary Evelyn Oglesby, 72, of McGehee, Arkansas died Friday. Mary was born on January 30, 1942 to the late Clifton and Evelyn Hudgens Oglesby. She was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University. Mary was a retired school teacher and taught music in the New Orleans Public School District. She formerly was Miss McGehee and competed in the Miss Arkansas Pageant. Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church of McGehee and loved to sing
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Oglesby. Survivors include her cousins, Dr. Randolph Oglesby of Maumelle, AR, Neita Brady of San Antonio, TX, Gail Hardin of San Antonio, TX, Lamont Seals, Jr. of Missouri, Bill Oglesby of Baton Rouge, LA, Ann Oglesby Houston of Palm Desert, CA, Cynthia Oglesby Boshears of Maumelle, AR, Billie Faye Oglesby Gailey of Pine Bluff, AR; close friend, Jamie Stallans; caregivers, Marsha and Kelly Barber, and her nursing home family.
Visitation will be held at 2-3 pm Sunday, June 15, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in McGehee, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held 3 pm Sunday, June 15, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Head officiating.
