Obituary for Benny Ray "Buddy" Henley

Benny Ray "Buddy" Henley, 79, of McGehee, Arkansas passed from this earth on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. He was born May 5, 1937 in Star City, Arkansas, to Sidney Archie Henley and Ertie Northcutt Henley. Mr. Henley was a man of simple tastes and strong beliefs, as well as an avid outdoorsman. He worked hard for his family at the Glove Factory in McGehee and for the Highway Department in Mississippi and Arkansas. He had the respect of many and the love of more.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susanna Lanham Henley; both parents; a brother, Archie Junior Henley and three sisters, Lovella Ware Henley, Allene Israel and Blanche Moore. He is survived by three daughters, Emily Hampton Cooley (Phillip) of Memphis. TN, Twyla Henley Sherland (Steve) of Wynne, AR, and Ramona Henley Jackson (Mike) of Hernando, MS; four grandchildren, Ashley Barnes of Memphis, TN, Beau Sherland of Wynne, AR, Aaron Jackson of Hernando, MS, and Matthew Jackson of Temecula, CA; two sisters, Mary Ann Clark of Wichita, KS and Betty Blevins of Rohwer, AR; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held at 6-8pm Friday, February 17, 2017 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 18, 2017 with Dewight Lanham and Rickey Eppes officiating. Mr. Henley will be buried in Tillar Cemetery next to Susie. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Arkansas Hospice and all of his caregivers.
