James David “J.D.” Morman, 75, of Kelso, AR passed away at his home on Friday, March 30, 2018 after an extended illness. He was born to the union of the late Lena Hilburn Morman and Alvia “Son” Morman in Desha County, AR on December 3, 1942. J.D. loved being outside and building things. He was always coming up with something new and unusual. He loved talking with people and never met a stranger. He loved to travel and meet new people. J.D. had been a traveling pipefitter in his younger years then developed a passion for teaching and became the welding instructor of Great Rivers Vo Tech in McGehee from 1975-1996. He had a love for Corvettes and classic cars and he owned many during his life. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and had a great passion for the farm he grew up on and continued to live on during his life.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Geneva Herring, Ruth Thrower, and Judy Sass; brothers Lamar Morman and Charles Morman.
Survivors include his sister Jane Taylor and her husband Lee Jay; sons, David Morman and Keith Morman and his wife Amber; daughter, Janice Holland her husband Dewey; grandchildren, Jacob Morman, Shelby Veazey and husband Jonathan, Lizzie Lavender and fiance’ Joe Moring, Darren Holland and Kaitlyn Holland; great-grandchildren, Thomas Holland, Alex Moring and the light of his life, Rugbie Jemma Moring.
Visitation will be 1-2 pm Monday, April 2, 2018 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral Service will be at 2 pm Monday, April 2, 2018 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ben White officiating. Pallbearers will be Charles Masters, Billy Hobson, Jacob Morman, Darren Holland, Jeremy Goggans, Justin Van Landingham, Roger Pickens and Jamie Dunnahoe.
