Mrs. Rita Jean Odell, 79, passed away at her home in Tillar, Arkansas on June 16, 2014. She was born in Coal Hill, Arkansas on February 23, 1935, to the late Jeff and Nora Short Jones. She and her husband, Charles Odell owned Odell Welding Shop in Tillar. She was also the secretary for the business and was a homemaker after retiring from the business. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She always enjoyed when they could come visit and she loved her pets. She will be missed dearly.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Charles James Odell; daughter, Charlene Patricia Odell and brother, Tommy Jones. Survivors include her daughter and caregiver of the home in Tillar, Sherry Jean Odell Hawkins; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, J.C. (Pip) Jones of California; sisters, Thelma Chance of Coquille, Oregon and Velda Lawler of Somoa, California.
Visitation will be held at 5-7 pm Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Arkansas. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Thusday, June 19, 2014 at Watson Cemetery in Watson, Arkansas with Rev. Frankie Hawkins officiating.
