Lettie Buford Akines, 98, of McGehee, AR died Thursday, November 3, 2016. Mr. Akines was born in Rison, AR a son of the late Ora Marshall and Nora Bell Reaves Akines. He served in the U. S. Army and he was a lifelong farmer. He also worked for Lloyd Chicken Farms. He loved to watch wrestling. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Poyner Akines; brothers, Leon Akines, Hollis Akines and Clarence Akines; sister Lucille Calvert.
Survivors include his niece Sherry Hood and her husband Bobby who were his caregivers for the last seven years. Also numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1-2 pm Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral Services will be at 2pm at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. Interment will be at McArthur Cemetery.
