Betty Jo Mott, 74, of McGehee, AR passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018. Betty was born February 19, 1943 in Kelso, Arkansas to the late Charles Franklin and Mabel Fields Whitney. Betty worked as a cook in McGehee Public Schools for 19 years, McGehee Hospital for 9 years and at Big Ben’s Restaurant. She loved watching game shows on television and enjoyed going to video arcades. Betty was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Samuel Mott; son, James Wesley Mott; four sisters and 2 brothers. Survivors include her daughters, Susie Broyles of McGehee, AR and Edna Coates of Watson, AR; brothers, James Leroy Parum of Little Rock, AR and Charles Whitney of Houston, TX; sisters, Mary Jarrett of McGehee, AR and Sharon Dewey of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Jonathan Broyles, Johnny Lee “J.J.” Broyles, April Irons, Tiffany Burris and Jenifer Burris; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm Friday, February 23, 2018 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of McGehee, AR. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Green officiating. Burial will be held at McArthur Cemetery in McArthur, AR.
