Billy Joe Myers passed away on April 7, 2018 at the age of 89. His parents Ora Vardaman “Jack” Myers and Marnette Dishongh Myers preceded him in death. Billy Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edwardeen Burgess Myers. He is also survived by his son, Allen Myers (Little Rock), daughter, Lee (and husband Steve) Wiseman (Birmingham, AL), grandson, William Mason Wiseman (US Air Force), brother, Ben Allen Myers (Brinkley, AR) and his sister, Wanda Lynn Landry (Washington, IL).
Billy Joe was born in McGehee, AR and lived his whole life there. He worked for Shelter Insurance Company as a District Sales Manager and State Sales Manager until he retired in 1993. He had a lifelong passion for fishing and hunting and loved going to the horse races at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs. Billy Joe had the opportunity to travel the world on company trips and fulfilled a lifelong dream when he attended the Kentucky Derby. Billy Joe lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He was a member of McGehee First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 1:00PM -2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. In his later years, Billy Joe came to love dogs, especially his GrandDogs. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local Humane Society or Rescue Group.
