Obituary for Charleene Georgiette Waldrup

Charleene Georgiette Waldrup, 86 of Reno, TX, formerly of McGehee, AR stepped through the pearly gates of Heaven and was greeted by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Son of the Almighty God. Charleene passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in Reno, Texas after a long illness. She was the first born of the late George Thomas and Gertha Mae Minchew Vardaman on November 16, 1932 in McArthur, Arkansas. Charleene, a self-taught piano player, played with a gospel group at churches and gospel singings during her high school years, in the surrounding areas. She retired as an administrative assistant with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Charleene was a very fine Christian lady and loved the Lord dearly. She was a faithful member and pianist at First Baptist Church in McGehee, AR. Charleene loved to cook and enjoyed going to gospel singings. She resided the last sixteen months in Reno, TX due to her failing health. A very special thanks to her niece Tonda Sumner and her husband, David for taking care of her day and night in their home in Reno, TX. Her final months were also spent with her great-niece, Samantha Jones and her husband, Brandon, great-great nephew, Zayne Jones and great-great niece, Dylan Jones.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Ted Waldrup and her sister, Sarah Vardaman. Survivors include her sister, Greta Girod Price and her husband, Steve of Paris, Texas; nieces, Tonda Sumner and her husband, David of Reno, TX and Trina Barnes and her husband, Randy of Bryant, AR; nephew, Sammy Kilcrease and his wife, Andrea of Whitehall, AR; great-nieces, Samantha Jones and her husband Brandon of Reno, TX and Jessica Funk of Bryant, AR; great-nephews, Lucas Ridens of Bryant, AR and Heath and Gaylon Kilcrease of McGehee, AR; great great-niece, Dylan Jones; great great-nephew, Zayne Jones and several other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at First Baptist Church of McGehee, AR with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Halley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Sumner, Brandon Jones, Sammy Kilcrease, Heath Kilcrease, Don Wesson and Gene Price.
