Obituary for William E. Tullis "Bill"

William E. Tullis (Bill), 77, of McGehee, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July, 24, 2019. Bill was born in McGehee, Arkansas on July 14, 1942 to the late John Henry Tullis and Mittie Ethel Broadway Tullis. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and rode on CI30’s from 1962-1966. Bill was assigned to Italy and North Africa on the shores of Tripoli. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier for 26 years, where he was known as “Bubba” and retired in February 2014. Bill worked for Electrolux for several years and for Lance and United Insurance Company. He was a member of the Gideon’s for years and the American Legion. Bill loved the Lord. He served on Sundays at the prison and shared with others about the Lord. Bill was a member and a deacon at First Assembly of God Church in McGehee, AR, where he taught Sunday school and served wherever he was needed. He was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother and friend and will be missed by many.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jo Tullis. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Anne Borland Tullis. They have 3 children, daughters, Tammy (Jeff) Tullis of Benton, AR and Sandy (Harvie) Blevins of FL and son, Jed (Melissa) Tullis of Waynesville, MO; grandchildren, Jessica (Colby) Mack of Jonesboro, AR, Bethany Wargo of Benton, AR, Rachel Wargo of Benton, AR, Mitch Blevins of FL, Ruby Blevins of FL, Alex Bagnall, Andrew Tullis and Ashton Tullis; great-grandson, William Oliver; brother, Jim Tullis of TN; nephew, Johnathan (Libby) Tullis and their children, Caroline and Samuel.

Visitation will be held at 5-7pm Friday, July 26, 2019 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 27, 2019 at First Assembly of God Church in McGehee, AR with Rev. Shane Whitacre officiating. Burial will be at McGehee Cemetery.
