Twyla Pounders Williams Hargis, 71, passed away Friday, October 4, 2019. She was born in Dermott, Arkansas on December 4, 1947 to the late Ed Pounders and Consula Crow Pounders. Twyla worked at Harding University Bookstore prior to moving to McGehee. She worked at Delta Memorial Hospital for 7 years and several years at the Daycare at First Baptist Church in McGehee, AR. Twyla loved her family and friends. She was a member of McGehee Church of Christ.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 40 years, Anderson Dale Williams. Survivors include her husband, Phil Hargis of McGehee, AR; son, Marc Anderson (Beth) Williams of Austin, TX; stepsons, Brian (Tammy) Hargis of McGehee, AR and Robbie (Jamie) Hargis of Vidalia, LA; sister, Novyle Grimes of Monroe, LA; 6 grandchildren; niece, Tammy Bragg of Monroe, LA; nephew, Frankie Grimes of Monroe, LA; great-nieces, Amber and Aimee Grimes; great-nephew, Bandon Craven and a host of children she came to love while working at the Daycare.
Visitation will be held at 5:00-8:00 pm Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, October 7, 2019 at McGehee Church of Christ in McGehee, AR with Rickey Eppes officiating. Burial will be at McGehee Cemetery.
