Loy Dean “Chip” Hicks II, 48, of Dermott, AR passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Chip was born September 28, 1971 in Little Rock, AR to Loy Dean Hicks, Sr. and the late Shirley Virginia Sledge Hicks. He attended Dermott Public schools. He worked for KVSA Radio Station for a few years. Chip worked as a police officer for many years at McGehee, Dermott and Arkansas City. For a short time he served as the chief of police at Arkansas City. He also worked several years as a correctional officer for the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He was a member of Dermott Baptist Church and he loved to hunt and fish.
Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jamie Nelson Hicks.Survivors include his father, Loy D. Hicks, Sr. and his wife, Ann Davis Hicks.; sons Chase Hicks and Bradley Hicks of Dermott, AR; sister, Andrea Dawn Hicks of Dermott, AR; nephew Owen Cook of Little Rock, AR; numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Dermott Baptist Church with Dwane Perry and Rev. John Compton officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 150, Monticello, AR 71655.
