Obituary for Mary Maude Compton Perry

Mary Maude Compton Perry, 80, of Dermott, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. She was born to Elliard and Bianca Compton in Dermott AR on March 9th, 1939. At 18, she married James Owen Perry, who was in the U.S. Air Force. The courageous young woman that she was, at 20, she followed her husband to Alaska, with an infant son and one on the way. Being a military wife, they lived in over ten different places including France and Alaska eventually moving back to her hometown. Her husband James passed in 1994. She was a devoted wife and Mother. Mary, called Nana by her eleven grandchildren, always treated them as a joy and delight and did many fun activities with them.

Mary was a faithful member of the Dermott Church of Christ. She visited and cared for the elderly and spent hours cooking delicious meals for friends and family. The family would like to give special recognition to her friends Carolyn Wilson and Gary Fletcher. She enjoyed spending time with her dear friends and cheering for the Razorbacks. Her faith and family were the most important elements of her life.

Other than her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James Owen Perry and her brother Elliard Roy Compton. Survivors include her sister-in-law Pasty Compton of Russellville, AR; her sons, Shaun of McGehee, AR and Dwane and his wife, Molly of Dermott, AR; Grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha, Tyler, Annalisa, Rosemary, Johnmark, Heather, Rebekah, Benjamin, James and Bethany; 2 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Dermott Cemetery in Dermott, AR. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Dermott Church of Christ Mission Fund, Dermott Church of Christ, P.O. 663, Dermott, AR 71638.
