Obituary for Blake Ethan McCallie

Blake Ethan McCallie, 30, of Russellville and formerly of Arkansas City passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2020 at his home. Blake was born on June 28, 1989 to Wayne and Becky McCallie of Arkansas City. Blake was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Ann Wood of McGehee, and his paternal grandfather Roy McCallie of Arkansas City.
Blake is survived by his parents, his brother Jason McCallie and wife Kirby and nephew Levi, who Blake loved as his own and fully spoiled to the very best of his ability. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother Rebecca McCallie of Monticello. Other survivors include a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
Blake was employed as an engineer at Arkansas Nuclear One. Blake earned his BSME and Nuclear Engineering Technology degrees from Arkansas Tech University. He was a 2007 graduate of McGehee High School. Blake was a lifelong student and loved learning. Blake was especially gifted in mathematics. He loved to apply his abilities to all areas of his life. Family and friends often sought his help and input with projects that he would ultimately take over and complete as his own, knowing in the end, everyone would be happier with the results.
Although his profession relocated him from the farm on which he was raised, Blake had a deep love for farm life and especially all of the animals and livestock. He was often seen feeding treats to the cattle and horses and tenderly caring for the newborn calves. For all of Blake’s strength and size, he was incredibly tender hearted and caring. Blake was a member of Arkansas City Baptist Church and various professional organizations.
Graveside services will be at McGehee Cemetery on Friday, May 15, at 2:00 pm. Pastor Ali Haynes will officiate and his cousins will serve as pall bearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Blake’s memory to your favorite charity.
