Obituary for Everett Earl "Butter" Compton

Everett Earl “Butter” Compton, 74, of Lamar, Arkansas passed away Monday, August 24, 2020. Butter was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 15, 1945 to the late Everett Compton and Mabel Lois DeBlieux Compton. He graduated from Dermott High School where he was the quarterback for the football team. Butter worked as a Supervisor Construction Representative for United States Army Corps of Engineers. He loved horses and rodeos. Butter loved his family, especially his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Compton; sons, John (Ann) Compton of Dermott, AR and Cody Compton of Goose Creek, SC; daughters, Kay (Chris) Mazzanti of Fayetteville, AR, Ann (John) Puckett of Fayetteville, AR and Megan Compton of Lamar, AR; brother, Ronnie Compton of Hot Springs, AR; sisters, Anita Evans of Baton Rouge, LA, Martha Boatman of Portland, TX, Patsy Hunter of Aiken, SC and Mary Alice Terry of Benton, AR; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00am Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Compton officiating.
