Drewlene Betty Parnell Baker, 87, of Dermott, AR passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at McGehee Hospital. She was born in Amite, Louisiana on March 4, 1934 to the late Curtis Parnell and Aristides Irene Bennett Parnell. Drewlene was a school bus driver for 20 years for Sheridan Public Schools. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. Drewlene was a member of Oakland Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Whitehall, AR.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 56 years, Thurman Baker and her son, Robbie Baker. Survivors include her son, Thurman Baker of Little Rock, AR; daughters, Leta (Lavon) Lampkin of McGehee, AR and Janet (Terry) Jacobs of Fl; brother, Frank (Patsy) Parnell of Amite, LA; sister, Yvelle (Joseph) Viola of Tangipahoa, LA; grandchildren, Jason Steel and Tommy Steel of Missouri and Jorge Vazquez of Arkansas City, AR and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9-10am Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral services will follow at 10am at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dwain Dennis officiating. Graveside service will be held that afternoon at 2pm at Center Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Grant County, AR.
