Obituary for Dorothy Louise Yates Martindale

Dorothy Louise Yates Martindale passed away on June 18th. She was residing in Allen, Texas at the time of passing. Dorothy was born in Dublin, Mississippi on May 15, 1933, to the late James Elbert Yates and Irma Louise Cummings. She graduated from West Tallahatchie High School in 1953 in Webb, Mississippi. She married Reuben Cois Martindale in 1954, and they were married until his passing on December 24, 2017. She is also preceded in death by her brother Harold Yates and her sister Helen Johnson Adkins.

Dorothy and Cois made homes in Tutwiler, Drew and Rosedale Mississippi. In 1970 they moved to Eudora Arkansas where they purchased a Western Auto. Dorothy was an active member of the Eudora Baptist Church and a member of the 20th Century Club. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother. She loved cooking for her family and always cooked too much food to be sure everyone had their favorites.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a sweet and kind human being. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Burchfield of The Colony Texas; son, Glenn Martindale (Greta) of Fort Worth Texas; brother, Jerry Yates of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Kate Martindale of Waco Texas, Andrew, Justin and Hope Martindale of Fort Worth Texas; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Pavilion in Eudora, AR with Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am-11:00am at the Pavilion.
