Obituary for Donna Sue Teague French
Mrs. Donna Sue Teague French, age 92, of McGehee, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on August 31, 2021 at Dalton’s Place, Star City, AR.
She was born October 12, 1928 in Hickory Ridge, AR to the late Arthur David Teague and the late Lula Mae Cates Teague.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Tony French, a prominent Desha County Farmer; two sisters, Margie Teague Vanaman and Vita Teague Wilson; two Brothers, Floyd Teague and Lloyd Teague; one son-in-law, Don Nuckols; and one great grandson, Brody Nuckols.
Sue attended First Baptist Church McGehee where she enjoyed participating in Mrs. Young’s and Mr. LaFarra’s Sunday School Classes, working in the food pantry, and counting pills for mission trips. She loved her many friends and enjoyed trips to the nursing home with them for “popcorn” parties with the residents.
Sue was a loving mother and wonderful homemaker. Her three children - Sandra, Pam, and Steve – were her passion, joy, and highest priority. She enjoyed cooking, especially great apple, chocolate, and coconut pies which her children and grandchildren absolutely loved and occasionally fought over the last piece. Gardening and working with her hands brought her great satisfaction. She made many beautiful pieces of pottery and knitted special afghans that will be cherished by her children and grandchildren for years to come. Her prayer and desire was that all her children and grandchildren learn to live by the words Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Sue is survived by two daughters, Sandra French Rowe (Vernon) of Pittsburg, TX and Pam French Nuckols of Dumas, AR; one son, Stephen Anthony French (Wanda) of McGehee, AR; one sister, Patty Stevenson of Hickory Ridge, AR; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Bowman (Scott) of Winnsboro, TX, Brad Rowe (Lara) of Mount Pleasant, TX, Jessica Kimbro (Adam) of Pittsburg, TX, Joseph Nuckols (Karrie) of Fayetteville, AR, George Nuckols of Dumas, AR, Dee Dodd (Michael) of Las Vegas, NV, P.J. French of McGehee, AR and Devin French (Tiffany) of McGehee, AR; twenty-one great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Visitation is will be held 1:00-2:00pm Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral service will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. Burial will be at McGehee Cemetery.
