Obituary for Oather Vernon Lee Farrell

Oather Vernon Lee Farrell, age 84, of Dermott, Arkansas passed away Monday, September 27, 2021. Vernon was born November 18, 1936 in Dermott, AR to the late Oather John Patrick Farrell and Alice Hutton Farrell. Vernon served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for the Golden Triangle Airport Police Department and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department in Columbus, MS. He then joined the Dermott Police where he worked for many years. Vernon then went to work for the McGehee Police Department as Assistant Chief of Police and then Chief of Police before retiring in 2001. Vernon was a member of the Knob Noster #245 AF&AM Masonic Lodge. He loved to fish and go to the casinos.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Norma Savoie Farrell and Carolyn Wilks Farrell. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Peacock Farrell of Dermott, AR; son, John (Brenda) Farrell of Orange Park, FL; daughters Mary (Mark) Nickoles of Ethellsville, AL and Patricia Mixon of Tillar, AR; brother, Billy Farrell of Centerville, AL; 7 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held 5-7pm Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. Burial will be at Dermott Cemetery.
