Obituary for Bobbie Lynn Loveless Lehman
Bobbie Lynn Loveless Lehman, age 81, of McGehee, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in Monticello, AR. Bobbie was born in Possum Valley, AR, to the late Arthur Benjamin Loveless and Virgie Hickman Loveless. She was 1957 graduate of Drew Central Schools and earned a BS degree in Education from Monticello A&M in 1961.
Bobbie began her teaching career at Gillett High School and met the love of her life, J.W. Lehman, while living there. Their first date was participating in a community coon hunt to obtain meat for the Gillett Coon supper. They married in 1962 and were married almost 48 years.
Bobbie continued her career as an educator, teaching students in Little Rock Public Schools, Bellaire Academy, Delta Special School District, and McGehee Public Schools. She loved her students and was known for her sharp wit.
Bobbie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Gillett. Both she and her husband were committed to spreading the love of God and started new churches in Little Rock and McGehee. Bobbie was also dedicated to her family and supported her children’s activities serving as a Boy Scout Den mother, Brownie troop leader, Sunday School teacher, and working countless nights in the McGehee football concession stand as a band parent.
In her later years, Bobbie was active in community activities. She loved helping with activities at First United Methodist church where her grandchildren attended church. She also served in various capacities with the McGehee Chamber of Commerce and Women’s Chamber of Commerce, McGehee Food Pantry, Lions Club, and Master Gardeners of the Delta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.W. Lehman, brothers Ben Loveless, Glynn Loveless, & Bill Loveless, and sister Ouida Loveless Jones. She is survived by a son, Kerry Lehman of Derby, KS, and two daughters, Theresa (John) McGaha of McGehee, AR, and Amy Lehman of Frankfurt, Germany. Other survivors include her 3 grandchildren, Shelby (Brian) Apple of Baton Rouge, LA, Alex (Victoria) McGaha of McGehee, AR, and Cole (Brooke) Lehman of Bossier City, LA, and 4 great-grandchildren, Eleanor & Margaret Apple, Sawyer McGaha, and Oliver Lehman.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 5-7 PM at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee. Funeral service will be Friday, February 18, 2022, at 2 PM at McGehee First United Methodist Church. Pastor Chad Phillips and Pastor Tom Mullins will officiate. Interment will be at 4 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Gillett, AR.
