Melba Jo Summitt Williams, 89, of McGehee, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at her home. She was born December 18, 1932 in Bluffton, Arkansas to the late Marlow Harrison Summitt and Ola Abigail Reed Summitt. Melba owned and operated Miss Melba’s Daycare. She loved to cook, read and watch football, especially McGehee High School Football. Melba was a very active member of McGehee Christian Center, where she sang and played the piano.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Vernice (Billy) Parker, Janette (Charles) Miles and Ava (Leroy) Ruston. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Rosevelt Pratt Williams of McGehee, AR; sons, David Pratt Williams of McGehee, AR and Larry Joe Williams of Baxter, AR; daughters, Shirley Williams Overton of Tillar, AR and Guyla (Wayne) Burks of Selma, AR; brother, Marlow (Martha) Summitt of Ransom Canyon, Texas; sisters, Peggy (Clifford) Barnett of San Antonio, TX, Janelle Harper of Gainesville, TX and Nina (Mike) Stephan of Houston, TX; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at McGehee Christian Center in McGehee, AR with Rev. Jason Martin, Rev. Brian Standridge, Rev. Ben White and Rev. Charles Jacobs officiating.
