Obituary for Odis Lee Helling

Odis Lee Helling, 92, of Doyline, Louisiana passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Odis was born February 27, 1930 in Eudora, Arkansas to the late George Helling and Thelma Harper Helling. Odis was formally a cattle rancher and farmer. He formally owned and operated the Ritz Café and the Tiara Night Club, both in Eudora, AR. He owned and operated Bobbie’s Grocery and Bait Shop in Doyline, LA. Odis served in the Merchant Marines and the United States Army during the Korean War. He was creative and enjoyed gardening and loved to grill out, fish and hunt.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie “Bobbie” Louise Helling and his brothers, Cecil Helling and Claude Helling. Survivors include his daughter, Brinda Martin of Doyline, LA; brother, Vernon Helling of Channelview, TX; cousins, Johnnie Lee Ball of Benton, LA, Cynthia Alba of Mena, AR, Teddy Ray Ball of Dallas, TX and Linda Burley of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Michael Shane Martin, Tony Dale Martin, Toni Marie Martin and Shyanne Maness.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora, AR with Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. Odis and his wife’s ashes will be buried together.
