Obituary for Virginia Akines
Virginia Akines, 81, of McGehee, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022. She was born November 1, 1941 in Drew County, Arkansas to the late Sam Franklin Barnett and Annie Mae Holdcraft Barnett. Virginia lived in McGehee for over 60 years. She enjoyed sewing and bowling. Virginia loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Tillar Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Akines; daughter, Janet Lee Akines Harris; 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Survivors include her sons, Frankie Akines of Helena, MT and Clarence M. Akines, Jr. of Conway, AR; daughters, Peggy D. Akines Bruington (Brent) of McGehee, AR and Paula A. Akines Mote of McGehee, AR; sister, Mary Lacotts of Watson, AR; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 5:00-7:00pm Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of McGehee, AR. Graveside services will be held at 2:30pm Sunday, November 13, 2022 at New Hope Cemetery near Rison, AR with Rev. Bobby Pennington officiating.
