Obituary for Charles "Charlie" Ray King

Charles “Charlie” Ray King, 83, of McGehee, AR died on May 2, 2023. He was born on January 18, 1940 in Tyro, Arkansas. Charles married Eunice Dunnahoe King on August 12, 1960. They were married for 59 years.

Charles was self-employed for many years. He owned and operated King’s Service Station for 20 years, King’s Furniture for about 10 years, and King’s Used Cars for 20 years. Charles loved and worked hard outside planting trees, flowers, and shrubs. He was a faithful member of South McGehee Baptist Church of McGehee for more than 50 years, was a deacon, and actively involved with his church. Charles was a very proud member of the Masonic Lodge in McGehee.

Charles is survived by his sons Charles A. King of McGehee, Lynn (Darlene) King of Arkansas City, daughters Felicia (Alex) Castillo of McGehee, and Tracy (Billy) Bates of McGehee.

Charles is the brother of Henry (Barbara) King of McGehee, AR, Franklin King of Pine Bluff, AR, Pat Ballinger of Hot Springs, AR, Jeanette (Vernon) King of Arkansas City, AR, and Stella (Jerry) Thompson of Rohwer, AR. Charles had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death of his wife Eunice and his parents the late Tom and Gladys King, brothers Dean King of California, James King of California, Danny King of Pocahontas, AR, Vernon King of Arkansas City, AR and sisters Dorothy Carr of California and Bernice King of Tyro, AR.

Pallbearers will be Jason Colburn, Steven Plunkett, Noah Colburn, Jonah Colburn, Zachary Bates and Tyler King.

Visitation will be on May 4, 2023 at 12:00 to 12:30 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Graveside services will be held on May 4, 2023 at 2:00 at Flat Creek Cemetery in Fountain Hill, AR. Rev. Kenny Culpepper will officiate the services. A Masonic service will be given as well.
