Obituary for CMSGT John Wilson Foster, Sr.
CMSGT John Wilson Foster, Sr., 94, of McGehee, AR passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, AR. John was born on April 14, 1929 in Judsonia, AR to the late John E. and Roxie Harmon Foster.
He served in the United States Air Force for 26 years during the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the Air Force he attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, AR with a business degree. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at UAM School of Technology for several years. John was a commander with the American Legion for two years. He also was instrumental in the construction of the Veterans Memorial in McGehee. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He was a member of Chickasaw Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Hogue Foster; daughter, Jacquelyn Foster; brothers, Robert Foster and Riley Foster; sisters, Eloise Dugan and Ray Wells; stepchildren, Paul Humphreys, Gene Humphreys and Geoffrey Humphreys.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Nora Coalter Foster; sons, John Foster, Jr. of Paola, KS and Mike (Becky) Humphreys of Dermott, AR; daughters, Colleen (Dave) Payne of Edgerton, KS, Teresa (Robert) Stone of Crossett, AR and Alicia “Sissy” Kelley of McGehee, AR; grandchildren, Morgan, Tiffany, Josh, Trent, Maggie, Abbey, Noah, Trey, Cristan, Tara and Chase; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR. Funeral services will be at 11 am Friday, May 12, 2023 at the funeral home chapel.
