Obituary for Cynthia Lynn Evans

Cynthia Lynn Evans was born on December 9, 1959 in Pine Bluff, AR to Carolyn and Robert Sanders. She was soon joined by younger brother, Philip Sanders. She graduated from McGehee High School and attended The University of Arkansas at Monticello.

She enjoyed spending quality time with her mother, family and friends, and especially her beloved dog, Bitsy whom she considered her third child. She loved Elvis Presley and her most prized possession was a silk scarf he placed around her neck during a concert that was tragically lost in a house fire. She also enjoyed music and dancing, creating crocheted gifts for her family and friends, arts/crafts, and playing the organ and piano, in which she performed beautifully. During her life she worked several jobs, including serving as a candy striper at McGehee Hospital, ginning cotton, various secretarial work, and medical transcription.

Cynthia died August 27, 2023 after enduring a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by her father Robert Sanders, brother Philip Sanders, grandparents Mildred and Philip Barranco, and her uncle Donald Barranco. She is survived by her mother Carolyn Sanders, Daughter Jennifer (Nikki) Holloway, husband Bill, and grandchildren Jackson and Jagger. Daughter Sarah Pasterniak, husband Caleb Burger, and grandchildren August Pasterniak and Norah Burger.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 4-5pm at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Chapel in McGehee, Arkansas. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023, 10am at McGehee cemetery. Memorials can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN, 38105, and the ASPCA at P.O. Box 96929 Washington, D.C. 20090-6929.
