Obituary for John Thomas Clower Jr.

John Thomas Clower, Jr., 78, of McGehee, AR passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, following a massive stroke. John was born in Pine Bluff, AR on November 26, 1944 to the late John Thomas Clower, Sr. and Mildred Parnell Clower.

He was a graduate of McGehee High School where he played football and was voted “Most Polite”. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for several years. John also worked at Sharpe’s Building Materials for several years. He then got his real estate license and became a broker. He also started Southeast Insurance Company in Pine Bluff, Dumas, McGehee, Dermott and Crossett. He later sold the agency to Milner-Owyoung Insurance Agency. He also owned and operated CAMCO, a rental property management company. In 1982 he was name “Man of The Year” by the McGehee Chamber of Commerce. He recently started Delta Truck Sales. John was very active in network marketing and enjoyed walking, exercising and fishing. He also took great pleasure in helping others.

John was a member of First Baptist Church of McGehee, AR. His family takes great comfort in knowing that his vision has been restored.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years Judy Mullis Clower; son, Paul Clower and his wife Terri of Hot Springs, AR; sister, Mary Emily Jackson of Monticello, AR; grand-daughter, Kathryn “Katie” Clower of Hot Springs, AR.

Visitation will be 5-7pm Monday, October 23, 2023 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at First Baptist Church of McGehee with Rev. David Brown and Rev. Keith Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at McGehee cemetery.
