Floyd Bunker Sessions, 93, of Tulsa Oklahoma, formerly of Lake Village AR, died Tuesday February 16, 2016 at St Johns Hospital in Tulsa after a brief illness. He was born August 8, 1922, in Lake Village to the late Hal Rucks Sessions and Mattie Bunker Sessions. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn Johnson Sessions, and three brothers, Louis W. Sessions, William N. Sessions, and Hal R. Sessions.
He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, where he was a Hall of Fame pole vaulter. He earned a civil engineering and masters of engineering degree at the University of Arkansas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Following his naval service, he worked with several natural gas pipeline companies in Houston, Texas; a pipeline construction firm in Atlanta, Georgia; and as a natural gas pipeline consultant in Tulsa. In 1986, he returned with his wife to Lake Village where he was engaged in the management of rental properties. He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lake Village, Arkansas.
He is survived by two daughters; Lorraine Roderick and her husband, Bruce, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Virginia Estes and her husband, Bill, of Cleveland Tennessee; a son, Bunker Sessions and his wife, Penny of Denver Colorado; eight grandchildren: Justin Sessions and wife Krista, Laura Roderick, Christian Roderick and wife Leah, Rebecca Roderick, Chase Sessions and wife Danae, Jeff Roderick, William Estes and Kathryn Estes; and three great grandchildren: Sam Sessions, Hudson Sessions and Hank Sessions.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, February 20, at Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lake Village, Arkansas. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lake Village Cemetery under the direction of Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church, P. O.
