Robert Bernice Markham, Jr
The train left the station and the old railroader was able to get on board. R.B. left this world in peace Monday, November 28, 2016. He was trying so hard to make it to his 90th birthday and was only 2 days away. He was born to Jenny Mince and Robert Bernice Markham, Sr. on December 1, 1926, in Brinkley, Arkansas. The youngest of six, he was preceded in death by his two brothers Ervin Markham, and Darl Markham, and three sisters, Mildred Markham, Georgia Johnson, and Verner Geisler.
He married his Bayou Baby, Peggy Price Markham on July 17, 1953. They celebrated 63 years of marriage and he always said he wished he could have another 63 years with her.
He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1988 and became the head cook at home. He could tell you how to cook anything from his front room chair. In 2010, they moved from their beloved McGehee to Holladay, Tennessee, to live closer to family.
Other than the love of his life, Paggy, as he called her, he is survived by two daughters, Judy (Bill) Thompson, Holladay, Tennessee, Debbie (John) Carter, North Little Rock, and one son, Bob Markham, Glendale, Arizona. He was Grandpa to seven grandchildren, three grandsons-in-law, and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday December3, 2016, at Griffin- Culpepper Funeral Service. On-line guest book may be signed at www.griffinculpepper.com
