Edna Lavearn Ballard, 82, of Dermott, AR passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Monticello. Edna was born in Rison, AR a daughter of the late Ted Clarence and Alma Josephine Cranford Laws. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a major in business education and a minor in art. She taught school at Parkdale Schools and was also the principal there. Edna worked at the Adult Education Program in Eudora, AR for many years. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Dermott where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was one of the three founding members of the Master Gardener Program in Southeast Arkansas.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Roger Mack Stringfellow and Billy Nat Ballard; sons, Dennis Ted Stringfellow and Carroll Bruce Stringfellow; brothers, Tommy Laws and Edward Laws; sisters, Dean Henderson, Jean Hutchinson and Jeanette Browning; step-grandson, Bryce Stringfellow.
Survivors include sons, Wade (Trudy) Stringfellow of Monticello, AR, Mitchell (Tina) Stringfellow of Hampton, AR and Phillip (Sherry) Stringfellow of Dermott, AR; daughter Mitzi (William) Cantwell of White Hall, AR; step-children Ronnie Stringfellow, Rickey (Linda) Stringfellow and Sherry McElyea all of Hampton, AR; sister, Bernice Ortega of Lone Star, TX; daughters-in-law, Melinda Stringfellow of Hampton, AR, and Linda Stringfellow of Monticello, AR; 14 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9-10 am Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church in Dermott, AR. Funeral services will be held at 10 am with Rev. Bobby Franklin officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm at Pickett Cemetery in Hampton, AR. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Arkansas Hospice, 224 Hwy 425 S, Monticello, AR.
